Messi at 300

A week ago, Lionel Messi scored his 300th goal in La Liga to inspire Barcelona to a comfortable 3-1 away at Sporting Gijon. The Argentine opened the scoring in the 25th minute, drifting past his opponents from the right hand side, cutting in on his left foot and striking into the bottom left hand corner. This prestigious milestone emulates his sublime career, with still plenty more to come from the magician at just 28 years of age.

He will hope to continue his and Barcelona’s fine form this season, to repeat the brilliance of the last campaign, combining his strengths with his fellow partners Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr, with the three of them developing into the most feared front three on the panel.

Messi’s record added to his achievement of winning the FIFA Ballon D’or for the fifth time, another record set by Le Messiah. To top off the season, Messi will be hoping and also confident of his team winning the title and pursuing to be the first team to win back-to-back Champions League trophies in the 21st Century.

During his phenomenal career, Messi has received high praise for his outstanding abilities as a footballer, giving him the status to be considered one of the greatest of all time. This achievement firmly puts him in the history books, not only today but maybe for the future, as many people believe that no player will ever come close to repeat the brilliance of this footballing legend.
